Folding Caron

Lightweight board for retail boxes and lighter products. Clean print surface, cost-effective at volume.

Corrugated

Fluted board with real crush protection in multiple flute grades. The workhorse for shipping and mailers.

Rigid

Thick chipboard with a premium, weighty feel. Built for gift-tier and higher-priced products.

Kraft

Recyclable, natural-brown board with a tactile, unbranded feel. The default for eco-first brands.

Material

Stock Type and Thickness

A box is only as good as the board it’s cut from. Here are the four stocks we run; pick by how your product ships and how you want it to feel.

Why Choose Us

Present your small business as a Brand

You don’t need an enterprise budget to look like an established brand. We handle the structure, the print, and the finish so your packaging earns its place on the shelf and in the unboxing.

Packaging strategies

We help you pick the box, stock, and finish that fit your product and your margins. Not the most expensive option; the right one

Idea to Production

Bring a rough concept, or a competitor's box you want to beat. We turn it into a manufacturable design with real specs.

In-House Design & Artwork

Our designers build your dieline and artwork in-house. No outsourced middle layer, no guesswork on print-readiness.

Prototypes & 3D Mockups

See your box as a 3D mockup, then order a physical prototype before you commit to a full run.

Worldwide Delivery

We manufacture direct and ship to 100+ countries, with quality checked before anything leaves the floor.

Free & Reliable Shipping

Free shipping on bulk orders, tracked to your door, on the turnaround we quote.

Food Packaging Guide

Custom Food Packaging for Restaurants, Bakeries & Food Trucks

Order One Box Before You Commit

Most food packaging suppliers make you buy in bulk before you even know if a box works for your product. Order 500, find out the grease-resistant coating wasn’t heavy enough for your fries, and you’re stuck with a box you can’t use. We don’t work that way. There’s no minimum order here — get a single sample box, test it with your actual food under real conditions, and only place your full order once you know it holds up.

Pair that with a 4-8 business day turnaround from approved artwork to delivery, and a new bakery, food truck, or restaurant testing a new menu item can go from idea to finished packaging in about a week — fast enough to launch on schedule instead of pushing a launch date back to wait on packaging.

Choosing the Right Box for Hot, Cold, or Dry Food

Food packaging fails for one of a small number of predictable reasons: grease bleeds through a coating that wasn’t rated for it, moisture from a warm bakery item goes soft and collapses the structure, or a box that’s fine at room temperature turns brittle and cracks in a freezer. The fix isn’t a single ‘best’ box — it’s matching the box to how the food actually behaves in transit, which is why Packaging Suppliers build packaging around use-case rather than a one-size-fits-all standard box.

Hot & Greasy Food (Pizza, Burgers, Fries)

Hot, oily food needs two things most standard boxes don’t have: a grease-resistant coating strong enough to stop oil from bleeding through to whatever’s packed underneath, and ventilation so trapped steam doesn’t turn a crisp product soggy before it reaches the customer. Corrugated board with a grease-barrier lining is the standard choice here — it holds its shape under heat far better than plain cardboard, and small vent openings let steam escape without letting the food go cold too fast.

Bakery & Pastry (Moisture-Sensitive)

Cakes, pastries, and iced baked goods have the opposite problem — too much structural rigidity without airflow traps humidity and can cause icing to sweat or a delicate crust to go soft. A bakery box needs to manage moisture, not just contain it. Window cutouts help on two fronts here: they let the product show through for presentation, and they allow a small amount of air circulation that a fully sealed box doesn’t.

Cold-Chain & Frozen Food

Cold and frozen product puts a different kind of stress on packaging — condensation as the product moves between temperatures, plus the physical load of being stacked in a freezer or cold truck for hours or days. A heavier-weight board, sized correctly to avoid extra empty space that invites crushing, holds up far better here than a standard grease-resistant box built for same-day hot food.

Box Styles: Clamshell, Gable, Tuck-Top, and Tray

The structural style of a food box matters as much as the material — the wrong style can undercut even the right material choice. Four styles cover most food-service needs:

Clamshell boxes are hinged so the lid and base stay connected, opening and closing like a shell. They’re the standard choice for takeout and delivery because they stack cleanly for transport and don’t require a separate lid that can go missing. Paperboard clamshells (book-style or drop-front) work well for baked goods and larger meals; the drop-front style in particular suits pizza-sized or bulkier items where lifting a hinged lid upward isn’t practical.

Gable boxes have a built-in fold-out handle and a tuck-in top closure — designed to be carried, not just set on a counter. This makes them a strong choice for bakery pickup orders, family-meal takeout, or anything a customer needs to carry any real distance from the counter to their car.

Tuck-top and tuck-end boxes use a simple folded flap closure with no separate lid or hinge. They’re the most economical structural style and work well for dry goods, single-serving items, or anything that doesn’t need a carry handle or a hinge.

Tray and sleeve packaging — an open tray slid inside a printed sleeve — suits bakery display items or combo meals where the food itself is part of the visual appeal and doesn’t need full enclosure.

Sizing Guide: Matching Box to Portion

Choosing a size comes down to matching the box to what’s actually going inside it — too small and food gets crushed or spills in transit; too large and portions look skimpy while you pay for wasted material and shipping space.

Size TierTypical DimensionsTypical CapacityBest For
Small4″ x 4″ x 2″8-16 ozAppetizers, sides, sauces, single desserts
Medium6″ x 6″ x 3″ to 9″ x 7″ x 3″24-32 ozSingle entrees, salads, sandwiches
LargeUp to 16″ x 12″ x 6″48 oz+Family meals, combo platters, catering portions

As a rule of thumb, the 24-32 oz medium range covers the majority of single-entree orders and is the size worth prototyping first if you’re only testing one box before a full order. Sizes can also be matched to standard USPS/UPS shipping dimensions if you’re shipping food product rather than serving it directly, which can meaningfully reduce your per-order shipping cost.

Materials: Kraft, Cardboard, Corrugated, Bagasse

Kraft paperboard, typically in the 200-350 GSM range, gives a natural brown, recyclable look and is a solid all-around choice for takeout, bakery, and deli use where a rustic, eco-forward appearance matters as much as function.

Standard cardboard is the lightest and most affordable option, best suited to lower-stress applications — dry snacks, single-use retail packaging, anything that isn’t carrying heat, grease, or heavy weight.

Corrugated board, in either B-flute or E-flute depending on how much crush resistance you need, adds real structural strength. This is the right call for anything heavy, hot, or likely to be stacked — pizza, bulk takeout orders, or anything shipped rather than handed across a counter.

Bagasse, made from sugarcane fiber left over from sugar production, is a genuinely compostable option — not just recyclable — worth considering specifically if your customers actively care about full biodegradability rather than recyclability alone. It costs more than kraft or cardboard, so it tends to make the most sense for brands where sustainability is part of the actual product story, not just a nice-to-have.

Printing & Finishing for Food Packaging

Standard CMYK printing covers full-color branding at a normal cost and works well for most menus, logos, and photography. If your brand colors need to match exactly — not just look close — Pantone (PMS) color matching is worth the small added cost, especially if you’re printing the same design across multiple box sizes or product lines and need them to look identical sitting next to each other.

Whichever printing method you choose, it sits on top of the food-safe substrate itself — the ink and finishing process don’t compromise the board’s food-contact safety, so you’re not trading branding for safety either way.

Not sure which spec fits your product? Talk to our packaging team and we’ll help you choose board, size, and finish.

foil stamping

Foil Stamping

Add a metallic or holographic sheen to your logo or key elements. Foil catches the light and signals premium the second a customer picks up the box.

Emboss/Deboss

Press your logo or pattern into the stock for a raised or recessed texture customers feel before they read it. No ink; the impression does the work.

lamination

Lamination

A protective film over the printed surface that locks in the finish and guards against scuffs, moisture, and handling.

spot uv

Spot UV

A high-gloss coating on select areas: logo, title, pattern; for sharp contrast against a matte background.

custom inserts

Custom Inserts

Fitted inserts that hold product in place, cut movement in transit, and control the reveal on opening.

Custom Styles

A cut-out with clear film so customers see the product without opening the box, built for retail shelves.

Unlimited Customizations

Every Detail, Your Way

Endless finishing options so your product packaging looks exactly how you imagined it — and then some.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ordering custom packaging.

The board is lined to resist grease and moisture, so oil and steam stay in the food and off your packaging. For hot or saucy dishes we can use a sturdier grease resistant stock.

Yes, the surfaces that touch food use food safe materials with no plastic lining.

Absolutely, we build the item, from a single pastry to a burger and fries or a family meal, so the food sits snug and does not slide around.

Hot and greasy food does best on a coated grease resistant board, while dry snacks and baked goods sit happily in natural kraft or a clean printed carton.

A snug fit and the right vented or closed style for the dish help hold temperature and freshness, so food arrives the way it left the kitchen.
